Captain’s Report
The year has gone very well. Membership has boosted, this is good for subs. We have £1000 for trophies and £150 for the raffle, plus money for a drink and food at the presentation evening. There are some things that need to be said about fair play. Please count all your strokes and play to the rules and the spirit of the game. Bob thanked the rest of the committee for their contribution.
Vice Captain’s Report
Jason thanked Bob for all his hard work. He commented on some rule flaunting; fluffing balls up in the rough – not allowed, picking and placing only allowed on the fairway, penalty for playing the wrong ball, putting ball marker back to original position when putting, don’t putt with flag in, slow play. We’re a friendly society. The majority of us play to the rules. It’s not fair to the honest players if you cheat. If you don’t know the rule then ask your fellow players.
Bob Unwin confirmed that we don’t want deliberate cheats in the society.
Secretary’s Report
Please let me know of any changes to your contact information. Also, I need DOB for anyone who wants to qualify for the vets league.
Some parts of the site are getting a little stale, but the comps and results should be kept up to date. Please keep the committee informed of your decision to play / not play on a particular competition, especially if you are bringing a guest.
Handicap Secretary’s Report
Andy enjoyed cutting handicaps throughout the year.
Things to remember: only ring birdies.
There is no "put me down for". If you don’t hole out it’s a 10.
Treasurer’s Report
Mike presented the accounts for 2013. For the presentation evening there’s enough money in the kitty to pay £10 per couple towards the cost of food.
Now that the society’s numbers are fairly high we’re introducing a new process for becoming a member. After playing 3 times a guest can apply to the committee to become a member. The committee will review the application. We want to keep the core membership so that we don’t exceed 32 players at a comp.
If you’re 5 month’s behind on your subs then you can’t return without paying the back subs.
We prefer it if you can pay your yearly subs up front. Still £8 a month.
Attendees
All who played on the day.
Plans for 2014
Bob handed out a sheet of all the courses booked, tee times and costs.
Election of officers
All committee members stood down then were promptly re-elected to perform the same roles
Members proposals
Proposal from Bob Unwin to restrict how many Majors you can win in one year. Majors affected:
- Order of Merit
- Medal scores
- Best 8 games
Not affected: Pairs and Knockout.
Seconded: Bob Palmer
Motion passed unanimously
From 2014, a player can only win one major
AOB
- Tan wanted to know handicapping rules
- Bobby W. wanted to know if we need to putt out when can’t score but less than 10 stroked played. AB: Yes, for the Medal scores.
- BP/ AB: Need to be stricter on fining
- MG: We should attempt to ensure that there is no limit on members playing in a comp, but guests should be restricted when getting close to 32.
