Handicap Secretary’s Report
Andy B. was sick but he emailed this report…
Thanks once again for all who have attended tonight. This being my first report as the Handicap secretary.
It’s been an interesting year, as for the first couple of months I started off being just a member enjoying the post golf beers and then in March being thrust into this role. I never gave any thought to how much time Trev put into this to get all the results circulated, and it does take a fair bit of time so many thanks to him for all the effort he put in over the years.
Getting back to this year, at the start it took a couple of months to sort out the tables as no scores had been inputted, so thanks for bearing with me. I also had a baptism of fire with our handicap software. But all in all I think it worked out very well in the end as we had a different winner for all the majors. Just a word to Al Fraser, if it wasn’t for your man flu in November I am sure you would have swept the board.
We have had a few issues this year with the points not being entered correctly although the stroke play is correct which is the main thing. If you are not happy putting down the points you can leave this as the computer will work this out at the end. Please make sure all scores are clearly marked and cards are signed by both players.
I have another thing to ask and that is if you can also make sure you mark the birdies clearly as a couple of times last year they were not marked and were nearly missed.
I now have a new computer which runs Windows 7 and will need £18.50 from the societies coffers to upgrade the handicap software.
We also have a number of members that would like to put their name forward to take over as handicap secretary as at some of the events they were sure they could do the job better
Anyway that’s enough from me, I would just like to finish by thanking the others members of the committee for all their hard work for keeping the society running and to all the other members for making it an enjoyable society to belong to.
